Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend in 2020
The Martin Luther King holiday weekend goes to the custodial parent in 2020 under the standard Utah holiday schedule. The holiday begins as early as when the children are released from school on Friday until Monday at 7 p.m. However if you are following the expanded parent-time schedule in Utah Code 30-3-35.1 then the custodial parent may keep the child Monday overnight and deliver them to school the next day.
If you have a child under 18 months of age or if you live 150 miles or more apart from your co-parent then special rules may apply. Not all court orders follow the standard Utah holiday statute and if your order contains different rules then you should follow what your order states.

What if my kids have no school on Friday. Would I be able to get them Thursday after school if we are following the 30-3-35? We have 50/50 custody. Thursday night would be his normal night however due to the holiday and having no school on Friday I believe that they come to my house.
Child is 4 years old. Non-custodial parent wants to use the 2 week uninterrupted parent time when it would partially overlap one of the custodial parents scheduled holidays. Can the non custodial parent take away one of the custodial parents scheduled holidays that is set by Utah codes? Does scheduled holiday time not trump all other parent time, including the 2 week uninterrupted parent time given to the non-custodial parent?
